There are more than two hundred countries in the world and
each has its own unique culture, influenced by climate,
geography, religion and other factors.
Japan is well known as one of the world's leading economies
and the story of Japan's rapid evolution from a feudal, closed
state at the end of the nineteenth century to one of the most
developed nations on earth at the opening of the twenty-first
century is well documented.
Amid this economic development and increasing westerniz-
ation, Japan has, however, lost some of the features of its
traditional culture.

世界には200以上もの国があり、それぞれの国が独特の文化を持っている。それらの国が独自の歴史を歩み、違った気候、宗教、地形が様々な文化を生む。
19世紀に鎖国に終わりを告げ、20世紀の初頭には日本の経済が飛躍的に発展し、先進国の仲間入りを果たした日本。しかし経済の発展と欧米化の過程で、伝統の文化は失われつつある。
